I find it refreshing to be disconnected for so long. I'm reconsidering my constant obsession with technology (i.e., the Internet), but every time I return to it that feeling seems to fade.

I'm amazed at how much I've experienced within 4 days, and classes haven't even started yet. I've benefited a great deal from this prefacing experience, both pragmatically and intellectually. Back home, race is a non-issue, completely transparent because of the intense diversity which naturally has accumulated there. Now that I'm here, the differences become apparent, and for the first time I actually forced to deal with the idea of racial identity.

I've yet to feel homesick, for better or worse.
