As if going into character for the first day of school, the Washington weather decided to turn a drab, soggy grey from its previously toasty sunniness. Classes were primarily introductory, so we only had but a taste of what's to come. Our "lab" today involved the sense of smell, with us smelling samples of what the visiting coffee roaster described as a sort of standard set of scents for describing and categorizing various coffee roasts. We also smelled and tried to articulate what we thought of two kinds of coffee. Though, it's a lot more fun to say that I smelled coffee for my first day of school.

I have homework that I probably should get to.
